Number system are the means in which a computer understands what you are trying to do on it, things like typing. It takes what you are doing and converts it into a number system that it understands to store information.
One of the number systems that the computer uses is binary. Binary is a number system based on the fact that computers like 1’s and 0’s to represent on and off for things. This is based on a power of two system ie. 2^0, 2^1, 2^3 and so forth. Binary only represents things in 1’s and 0’s. So let’s say I use the number 10. What would that look like in binary? 1010 is what the byte would look like. How do I know? I took ten and translated it into binary.

Another of the number systems is hexadecimal. Hexadecimal is a number system based on power of 16. It’s units go 16^0, 16^1, 16^3. 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F. So so lets say I want to translate oxF13 to decimal. (256 x 15) + (16 x 1) + (1 x 3) = 3859
Ascii is the american standard code of information. It is used for translating binary into english and was the most used format. .It can be saved small in size but, it is incompatible with other languages
UTF8 is the unicode transformation format. Similar to ascii, it is used to translate binary into text. It can be compact like ascii but it has characters from all languages. It was made to be compatible with the whole internet.
